postpartum doula

A Postpartum Doula is a woman who offers support to the mother, baby, and entire family after a birth. The days, weeks and months following the arrival of a new baby are a time of exhilaration, love, exhaustion, family, and change. In other words, it is a very dynamic and challenging time for everyone in the family. While a new baby brings tremendous joy, it also brings challenges and questions. This is a time when a new mother can use extra physical, emotional, mental and spiritual support

As a Postpartum Doula, I offer the following services:

  • Newborn care

  • Childbirth and C-section recovery

  • Breastfeeding support

  • Parental and family adjustment

  • Household organization

  • Meal prep

  • Errands

  • Infant Development

  • Evidence-based education

  • Baby wearing

  • Sibling care

  • Professional referrals

Postpartum Services

  • Basic

This is a great option for moms who have other family members to help. We love mothers and grandmothers to be involved, but sometimes you need an extra hand. The Basic package is 10 hours of postpartum support. Get all your baby questions answered and make sure you and baby are off to a great start!

  • Intermediate

This package is for those who may have other siblings in the house or a partner who is returning quickly to work. 20 hours of postpartum support will ensure that you get adequate rest, healthy meals, and lots of bonding time with your new baby. Keep the household running smoothly with the Intermediate package.

  • Advanced

Expect the unexpected! Many issues can arise with a newborn that we never anticipate. NICU stays, cleft lip/pallets, twins, C-secions, high-needs babies, - Oh my! This package is for families that are faced with unforeseen circumstances and postpartum challenges. You will never regret having an extra set of hands.

Our session will be

  • Personalized

No two mother-baby dyads are alike! Each moment I spend with you will be unique to your needs, desires, culture, and circumstances. I strive to nurture the whole family while “mothering the mother”.

  • Confidential

Emotions run high in the weeks following a birth. The postpartum time is extremely vulnerable, both physically and emotionally. I ensure that what happens in your home stays private. Trust is paramount.

  • Evidence-Based

I have hundreds of hours of lactation education and continually learn and develop my skills as a postpartum doula and lactation consultant. I stay up to date on the latest research and seek professional development often.

  • “our bodies must work pretty well, or there wouldn’t be so many humans on the planet.”

FAQs

what is a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula helps a family transition during the time of a new baby’s birth. She is helping the mom recover from childbirth, helping with newborn care, watching for signs of postpartum depression, feeding difficulties for baby, weight gain, sleep, and any other issues that may arise, including processing of birth trauma.

What if i don’t use all the hours I purchase?

It’s hard to predict one’s postpartum needs. If you purchase more hours than needed, unused funds will be donated to help other postpartum moms who might need financial support. You can always purchase hours a la carte, and add more if needed.

If I purchase a package, how long do i have to use the hours?

I generally work with women from birth to 3 months. I encourage women to use most of the time in the first few weeks, which is the time of the biggest adjustment, and taper off from there. However, hours will be honored in the entire first year of a babies life.

WILL YOU COME TO THE HOSPITAL?

Yes! I have attended many hospitals births as a birth doula, and feel very comfortable in a hospital setting offering support and lactation guidance.
